new season heroes 2009
What NBA Teams are the team to beat next season?

Aside from the reigning powerhouse champions, the Boston Celtics, and the defense-minded Spurs, which teams are a sure in for the playoffs next year? And who personally are you cheering for? Keep in mind the recent roster changes:

2008-2009 NBA Season (Possible Zero to Hero)
1. Miami (Wade, Marion, Beasley)
2. Seattle (Durant, Green, Westbrook)
3. Knicks (Gallinari, Marbury, Crawford, Randolf, D’antoni)

2008-2009 NBA Season (Improvements)
1. Toronto (Bosh & O’neal)
2. Chicago (Rose, Deng, Gorden, Gooden)
3. Portland (Oden, Roy, Bayless)

2008-2009 NBA Season (Possible Champs)
1. Lakers (Kobe, Bynum, Gasol, Fisher)
2. Phoenix (Shaq, Amare, Nash, Lopez, Dragic, Porter)
3. Spurs and Celtics

These teams are legit finals contenders:

Boston – they won the championship, so they will go deep into the playoffs.

LA Lakers – could be champions if they improve their defense.

Cleveland – In fear of losing LeBron James in 2010, they will get a good point guard and shooting guard, finally making this team competitive.

New Orleans – they just keep getting better.

Utah – great lineup, with some minor tweaks they are a serious championship contender.

Phoenix – want to win now, will probably trade good young players (Barbosa, Diaw) to do it.

San Antonio – they always find their way into the playoffs.

The up and coming teams:

Portland – they have a great young team and should have a ring in the next 5 years, but not this year.

Chicago – Derrick Rose makes this team look a whole lot better.

Miami – Wade, Marion and Beasley all together gives them scoring and more scoring. Beasley and Marion provide tons of rebounds, but the Heat need to get a PG and a Center.

New York – Donnie Walsh is making major moves, and Mike D’Antoni can get this team going again.

They can trade Zach Randolph to get a good PG, but since I doubt anyone will trade for Eddy Curry, they need to keep David Lee for his rebounding skills.
